The effects of hydrostatic pressure can be very profound. After all, a cubic foot of water weighs around 60 pounds. Depending on the surface area of your basement walls, this can mean over 1,000's of pounds of inward pressure on your walls! Unfortunately for this basement in Covington, KY, the built up water around the outside of the foundation was resulting in cracks, leaks, and bowed walls. We were able to relieve the immense weight off the walls by installing our interior perimeter waterproofing system, along with our PowerBrace wall repair system. As the waterproofing system drains the water away from the walls, the PowerBrace system actively shifts the wall back to a straight plane. We also installed our BrightWall paneling system, which will help drains the cracked walls and provide some aesthetic benefits as well. This pier underpinning project to stabilize this sinking foundation required us to tear down a fake wall. This homeowner was a previous client of ours when we stabilized the backside of their garage. They were happy with the job we did, so they had us out again to install more piers. This time, we stabilized the front side. This home had a musty smell and bugs coming up from the crawlspace. We fixed these problems by encapsulating it with CleanSpace matting. We also installed SilverGlo insulation panels as well.
This home had a pretty cool foundation that was made of stone bricks. It was also neat because it was a combined foundation made up of a crawlspace and basement. This is common to find in older homes and although its pretty cool, older foundations usually have more problems just from wear and tear. We were able to fix the foundation by applying a waterproofing system through the whole foundation by replacing their old sump pump with our newer TripleSafe sump pump. We also applied CleanSpace walls around the stone brick foundation to block out dirt and water. The result is a healthy basement that will last longer and preserve the cool brick foundation.
This poured foundation wall in the basement was leaking water due to built up hydrostatic pressure from the outside. We Begun to fix this problem by applying a flexible sealant along the leaking crack. Then, we placed a strip of flexible, porous foam over the sealant. Finally, we attached an impermeable membrane to the wall. This setup ensures that any future water seepage through the crack is directed discreetly into the drainage system below. The result was a happy customer who could finally finish their basement wall once again.
