A homeowner in Dayton was having problems with the chimney settling and pulling away from the house so they called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati for a solution to this problem. The homeowner met with Donny, a Certified Inspector, who recommended the Helical Pier System to resolve this problem.
A Helical Pier is a steel pier that is mechanically screwed into the ground until it reaches bedrock or competent soil. A bracket is attached to the Helical Pier and also to the foundation footer. The weight of the chimney is transferred to the bedrock through the steel pier. This will immediately stabilize it from further movement and may possibly be able to lift the foundation back to level.
