Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: SilverGlo and Rim Joist Insulation used in Cincinnati, OH

A Cincinnati homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati regarding insulating the crawl space.  They met with Brice, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that CleanSpace Encapsulation System with Drainage Matting, SilverGlo Insulation, RimJoist Insulation, and an EverLast Door is installed to keep this crawl space and, in turn, the home above warmer. The CleanSpace Drainage matting is installed under the CleanSpace liner to provide a channel for water to flow under the liner to get to the drainage system.  The CleanSpace liner is a bright white plastic liner, similar to a pool liner, that is attached to the walls and floor of the crawl space.  The CleanSpace liner provides a mold and vapor-proof barrier between the ground below and the home.   SilverGlo Insulation is polystyrene insulation that has graphite infused into it.  The graphite particles reflect heat into the crawl space.  SilverGlo makes your crawl space and floors warmer in the winter and lowers your heating bills.   Rim Joist Insulation is used at the rim joist to prevent unconditioned air from seeping into the crawl space.  Cold air leaking in from the outside in the winter contributes to a cold crawl space making the home harder to heat.  In the summer warm air seeping in causes humidity and condensation.  Too much humidity in the crawl space makes the home uncomfortable and also can contribute to mold growth.   The EverLast Door gives you an easy to access doorway into the crawl space.  It also will keep water and debris from entering the crawl space. These products working together will provide the homeowner with a home that is warmer in the winter and less humid and more comfortable in the summer.
