Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl space moisture resolved in Georgetown, OH

A Georgetown, Ohio homeowner wanted his crawl space encapsulated and was concerned about too much moisture in the crawl space.  He met with Steve, a Certified Inspector, who recommended CleanSpace Encapsulation System with CleanSpace Drainage Matting, a SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System with an UltraSump Battery Back up System, CleanSpace Vent Covers, SilverGlo Crawl Space Insulation, and RimTight Rim Joist Insulation. The CleanSpace Drainage Matting has special dimples to allow water to flow into the drainage system to be drained out of the crawl space.  The CleanSpace Liner is installed over the drainage matting.  It is a bright-white liner, similar to a pool liner, that provides a mold and vapor proof barrier between the ground and the home.   The SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System includes a WaterWatch Alarm.  The SmartSump has a unique lid design so that water from a plumbing leak would fill a pocket on the lid sounding the alarm.  The water then flows down into the system, but cannot flow back out into the crawl space.  The alarm will also sound to alert the homeowner if there is a power or pump failure.  Also available, is the UltraSump Battery Back up System.  This system will automatically come on during a power failure. CleanSpace Vent Covers cover and seal the vents to provide an airtight seal.  SilverGlo Crawl Space Insulation is graphite infused rigid insulation that reflects heat back into the crawl space.  We also installed RimTight Rim Joist Insulation to insulate the rim joist.  The rim joist is the board just above the foundation at the perimeter of the floor.  If this is not insulated properly unconditioned air can leak in causing cold crawl spaces and condensation and humidity in the summer and higher heating and cooling costs. These products working together will keep the crawl space dry.  This will also help to make the living space more comfortable and warmer in the winter.
