Crawl Space Contractor in Blanchester, Ohio
Challenge
So this homeowner had a somewhat in-shape crawl space condition in comparison to some of the other crawl spaces we see everyday, but because they were conscience of their crawl space health, they were able to recognize there were some areas for improvement that could help save them in the long run. The customer already had a waterproofing system in the crawl space, but it was not working as well as it could have. For example, the pump didn't have a cover which we all know, exposes a lot of moisture to the crawl space. The crawl space was also not sealed from the dirt-gravel crawl space, so this was also leaking moisture into the crawl space. The customer was also noticing his home's floors got really cold in the winter, and they spent a lot of money on their energy bills. The customer also wanted the crawl space clean and soft so they could store items down there. We were happy to help them out in achieving their goals of a new crawl space.
Solution
We started by cleaning out the crawl space of all unnecessary objects. We raked gravel out so the crawl space could be softer and more even, and we took all the fiberglass insulation out since its unnecessary, and we also removed some trash. We started by digging a hole for our SmartPump and UltraSump 4 battery back up. After we installed the pump, we then layed down our drainage matting, which replaces the need for the gravel drains. We then layed down TerraBlock foam insulation on the floor, which isn't able to contain moisture and is also very comfortable to lay on for when the customer enters the crawl space. On top of the TerraBlock, we placed CleanSpace matting all over the crawl space walls and floors, locking out moisture for good. We then applied more insulation by placing SIlverGlo panels all along the walls of the crawlspace and spraying spray foam along the band boards. To add final details, we closed their old sump pump with an air-tight lid that the customer bought and attached another Ultra Sump 4 battery back up to it, we installed a vent cover to prevent outside air from entering, we installed a Turtl crawl space door to allow easy access, and we installed the LawnScape discharge outlet. The result is a mighty fine crawl space that allows the customer to have a large amount of comfortable storage space, save lots of money on energy bills, breathe clean air, and have a peace of mind knowing their crawl space is safe from water damage.
