Polylevel, Nexus Pro and Helical Piers used to raise a porch in Cincinnati, OH
Challenge
A homeowner in Cincinnati, Ohio has a large front porch that has sunken over time. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati and scheduled an appointment with Michael, a Certified Inspector, to find a solution to this problem.
Solution
Michael recommended that the homeowner have Polylevel injection, Nexus Pro Sealant, and the Helical Pier System is installed to resolve the sinking problems on the porch.
Polylevel injection is performed by drilling a small hole into the slab to be lifted and the Polylevel foam is injected under the concrete. The foam fills the voids underneath the concrete and the slab is lifted into place. The foam is quick curing, waterproof, and noninvasive. Nexus Pro is a silicone-based sealant used to seal the joints of the concrete slab. The Nexus Pro can be used with Polylevel and cures in just 60 minutes.
Helical Piers are steel piers that are mechanically "screwed" into the ground until it reaches competent soil. A bracket is attached to the pier and also to the home's foundation footer. The weight is now transferred through the pier and to the competent soil and this stabilizes the foundation. The Helical Pier System is designed to potentially be able to lift the foundation back to the level position.
With these systems installed, the homeowner will have a front porch that will be stabilized from further movement. The Polylevel and Nexus Pro are quick curing so the homeowner will have very little downtime of being able to use the front porch.
