When a foundation is first built, the ground is excavated to make room to build the foundation. After the foundation is built, all the dug up soil is poured back around the foundation. All of this soil is very loose and is not as compacted together as the rest of the soil surrounding the home. Since the soil is looser than the rest of the soil around the home, water is more naturally inclined to build up in the soil surrounding your foundation walls. All of this water builds up and causes an immense amount of pressure on your basement, causing leaks and bowed walls. There are two statements that simplify this process: 1. Water always finds the path of least resistance. 2. Water weighs a lot. To counteract this process we installed our basement waterproofing system and our bowed wall repair system. These systems relieved this basement of the built up water pressure by: 1. Discharging the water far and away from the home. 2. Applying a counterbalanced force to the foundation walls.
