Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Bowing and leaking wall problems in Monroe, OH
A Monroe, Ohio homeowner that had a bowing wall in the basement that was also seeping water into the basement so they called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati to find a solution to this problem. The homeowner met with Walt, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that PowerBrace System, WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, and a Triple Safe Sump Pump System are installed to resolve this problem in the basement.
The PowerBrace System is steel I-beams that are secured tightly to a wall that is tipping, bowing or cracking. The brackets are attached to the floor and floor joists. The PowerBraces immediately stabilize the wall and protect it from any further movement. There is an adjustable bracket that can be adjusted over time to potentially reverse the wall failure.
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a piping system that is installed under the floor around the inside perimeter of the foundation walls. A small trench is dug out for the piping to be installed and then it is covered with a layer of cement leaving only a small wall flange exposed to allow water to drain into the piping. The water that is intercepted by the WaterGuard is drained into a sump pump and pumped out of the basement.
The TripleSafe Sump Pump System is a three pump system. The first pump is a 1/3 hp pump that will do the pumping most of the time. If this pump would become overwhelmed by a high volume of water then pump two will start up and run along with pump one. Both pumps running together can pump up to 6,250 gallons of water per hour out of the basement. The third pump is an UltraSump Battery Back-up System and will run on battery power to pump water out of the basement during a pump or power failure. The UltraSump comes with its own battery and charging station. The TripleSafe also includes a WaterWatch Alarm and an Airtight lid with Airtight Floor Drain.
Now that the PowerBraces have stabilized the wall and will protect it from further movement. In time, we can adjust the bracket to attempt to straighten the wall a little at a time. The WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System along with the TripleSafe Sump Pump System will keep the basement dry so that the homeowner can use the basement for storage or extra living space without concerns of water intrusion or foundation problems.
Call The Basement Doctor to schedule an appointment with a Certified Inspector who can make recommendations for the best products to resolve your basement, crawl space or foundation problems.
