An owner of a 1970s home in West Chester was having problems with water seeping into the basement from the back wall of the finished basement.  This home has a block foundation and there had not been a sump pump installed.  The homeowner met with Jeff, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, a TrenchDrain, a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System and an UltraSump Battery Back-up System is installed to resolve the problems that the homeowner was having in the basement. The WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a patented sub-floor piping system that is used to intercept the water that is seeping into the basement.  The water is drained into a sump pump system, such as the SuperSump, and pumped out of the basement to keep the basement dry.  The TrenchDrain is also a piping system, but it has a grated top for water to flow in and this will also be drained into the sump pump system.  The TrenchDrain is usually installed across doorways and hatches. The SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is used to pump water out of the basement.  The SuperSump can pump up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour out of the basement.  The SuperSump includes the WaterWatch Alarm, SuperLiner, and an Airtight Lid with Airtight Floor Drain.  The WaterWatch Alarm will sound if there is a pump or power failure to alert the homeowner of a problem with the system.  The SuperLiner has 96 holes throughout it to allow water to also flow in from under the floor and will not cave in or crack.  The Airtight Lid is strong enough to stand or store things on.  The Airtight Lid keeps water from evaporating back into the basement, keeps objects from falling into the liner, and quiets the pump.  The Airtight Floor Drain will allow water from a plumbing leak to flow down into the SuperLiner, but will not allow the water to come back up into the basement.  The UltraSump battery Back-up System will turn on during a pump or power failure and will run on battery power to pump water out of the basement.  It comes with its own battery and charging station.  These products working together will keep the basement dry for the homeowner so that the basement can be refinished without worries of water intrusion.
