Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: PowerBraces, and waterproofing in Moores Hill, IN
A home in Moores Hill had a wall in the basement that was seeping in water and also starting to bow. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati for a solution to this problem. The homeowner met with Walt, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that PowerBrace System, WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, TripleSafe Sump Pump System, BrightWall Panels, and a SaniDry Sedona is installed to resolve the problems that the homeowner was experiencing in the basement.
PowerBraces are used to immediately stabilize a wall and can potentially reverse the wall failure over time. The PowerBrace is a steel I-beam that is secured tightly against the wall and attached to the floor joists and the floor. This protects from further movement and the PowerBrace has an adjustable bracket that can be tightened over time to potentially reverse the wall failure.
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a patented sub-floor piping system that intercepts water that seeps into the basement. The water is then drained into the sump pump system to be pumped out of the basement.
The sump that was recommended for this home is the TripleSafe System. Pump 1 will do the pumping the majority of the time. If this pump fails or becomes overwhelmed with a high volume of water, then Pump 2 will start up and pump along with Pump 1 giving it a "turbo boost". Both pumps working together can pump up to 6,250 gallons of water per hour out of the basement. Pump 3 is the UltraSump Battery Back-up Pump. This pump automatically turns on during a power outage to pump water out of the basement. It comes with its own battery pack and charging station.
BrightWall Panels are sheets of plastic paneling that is used to cover the walls and it also drains wall leaks down into the WaterGuard. BrightWall keeps water from permeating into the basement and gives the basement a semi-finished look.
The SaniDry Sedona is used to dry and filter the air in the home. Too much humidity in the home encourages mold growth, musty odors, and makes the house feel humid and uncomfortable. The special filters on the SaniDry also filter out mold spores, dust mite droppings, and other particulates from the air making your home healthier and more comfortable.
These products working together will allow the homeowner to use the basement without worries of water intrusion, humidity or musty odors and the look of the basement is greatly improved.
Basement before the foundation repair or waterproofing was done
This is what the basement looked like before the work was done.
Bowing Wall.
There is a crack along the wall under the window and the wall is starting to bow.
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System.
The WaterGuard has been installed into the floor and only a small wall flange is exposed.
Bright Wall Paneling System.
The BrightWall Paneling System covers the walls, does not allow water to permeate into the basement and will drain the wall leaks down into the WaterGuard. The bright white color really brightens up the basement.
TripleSafe Sump Pump System.
All three pumps of the TripleSafe System fit into this figure 8 shaped liner so it doesn't take up much space. There is a knockout in the lid to also drain the SaniDry so there will be no buckets to empty.
The PowerBraces System.
Here you can see the PowerBraces are secured tightly against the walls and attached by brackets to the floor and floor joists.
WaterGuard, PowerBraces, SaniDry and TripleSafe Sump.
At the bottom of the wall, you can see that the WaterGuard has been installed along with PowerBraces on the walls. In the corner, the TripleSafe has been installed to pump the water out of the basement and the SaniDry will control the humidity.
