Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: What makes FlexiSpan different from other methods of crack repair?
A homeowner in Cincinnati had a crack in the foundation wall that was seeping water into the basement. The crack had been repaired with hydraulic cement and caulking with minimal success. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati to see if there is another solution. The homeowner met with Roger, a Certified Inspector, who recommended the FlexiSpan Crack Repair System.
The most common way to fix a leaking wall crack is to seal it with some type of sealant. This will work for a while, but with continued settling of the foundation, the crack may reopen and leak again. The FlexiSpan Crack Repair System goes a bit further to make this a permanent repair. The first step is a bead of sealant. This will slow down or even stop the leak. Next, a FlexiSpan Foam Drain Strip is installed over the sealant. If there is any water that gets past the sealant it will seep into the drain strip and into the drainage below. A sealant overlay is placed over the foam drain strip to completely seal the repair.
