Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: WaterGuard, TripleSafe, SuperSump and PowerBraces used in Cincinnati, OH
A Cincinnati, Ohio homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati for help resolving some problems they were having with water seeping into the basement near the floor. The house was built in the 50s and has a block foundation and a sump pump had not been installed. The recommendations for this home is to have a WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, a TripleSafe Sump Pump System, a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System, and PowerBraces installed to resolve this problem for the homeowner.
The WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a piping system used to intercept the water that is seeping into the basement. The piping system is installed into the floor along the foundation walls. The WaterGuard is laid in a trench along with some gravel and a layer of cement is placed on top leaving a small wall flange exposed. The water that is collected by the WaterGuard is drained into the sump pump and pumped out of the basement.
The TripleSafe Sump Pump System is a three pump system. Pump one is a 1/3 hp cast iron sump pump and will do the majority of the pumping. If Pump one fails or becomes overwhelmed by a heavy flow of water Pump two will start pumping. Both pumps pumping at the same time can pump 6,200 gallons of water an hour out of the basement. Pump three is the UltraSump Battery Back-up System. This pump will automatically turn on during a power failure to pump water out of the basement and comes with its own battery and charging station.
The SuperSump is a high-end 1/3 hp cast iron sump pump. It includes the WaterWatch Alarm System, The SuperLiner and the Airtight Lid. The WaterWatch Alarm will sound if the water reaches the point that the pump should have turned on or during a power failure. The SuperLiner is a heavy duty liner that will not cave in or crack. The Airtight Lid keeps objects from falling into the liner, keeps out odors and insects and quiets the pump.
The PowerBrace System is steel beams that are custom-fit to your basement wall. They are secured tight against the wall with brackets anchored to the floor and floor joist. PowerBraces are used to stabilize a failing wall against any further movement. The PowerBraces are designed to be tightened over time to also potentially straighten the wall. PowerBraces can be installed any time of the year and in most cases in less than one day.
