Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: WaterGuard, TripleSafe Sump, and PowerBraces to resolve problems in Madeira, OH
A homeowner in Madeira, Ohio was having problems with a bowed foundation wall. The house was built in the 1960s with a block foundation. They called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati for help resolving this problem and met with Walt, a Certified Inspector.
Walt recommended that PowerBraces, a TripleSafe Sump Pump System, and WaterGuard is installed to resolve this problem for the homeowner.
PowerBraces are installed to permanently stabilize your foundation walls. PowerBraces are zinc-plated steel I-beams that are secured tight against the wall with brackets that are attached to the floor joists and floor. The unique PowerBrace design allows the system to be tightened over time potentially reversing the wall failure.
TripleSafe Sump System, as the name suggests, has three pumps. Pump one is a Zoeller M-53 1/3 hp Pump. This pump will be the primary pump and do most of the pumping. Pump two is a Zoeller M-98 1/2 hp high volume pump. This larger pump will come on if pump one fails or if pump one becomes overwhelmed with the amount of water that is seeping into the basement. Both pumps working together can pump up to 6,200 gallons of water per hour out of your basement. Pump three is the UltraSump Battery Back-up Pumping System. If the power fails, this pump turns on and operates on battery power. It comes with its own battery and charging station.
WaterGuard is our patented waterproofing system. WaterGuard is a piping system, installed by digging a trench between the floor and the wall. The Waterguard is placed and finished with gravel and cement. The only part of the WaterGuard left exposed is the WaterGuard port to access the system and the wall flange. The wall flange is a small opening along the wall that lets the water enter the WaterGuard. The water is then drained into the sump pump system unseen and pumped out of the basement.
Now, with the walls stabilized and the water that seeps into the basement draining into the WaterGuard and the sump pump pumping it out of the basement. The homeowner will be able to enjoy a dry basement that can be used for storage or extra living space without concern of water seeping into the basement.
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System and the PowerBrace System.
WaterGuard has been installed along the foundation walls. This system will intercept water that seeps in and drain it into the sump pump. You can also see the PowerBraces that are used to stabilize the wall.
