How we Fixed a Leaking Basement Wall Crack in Florence, Kentucky
Challenge
We came in contact with this homeowner when one of our service technicians was at an annual maintenance appointment at her neighbors house. She asked our technician to come over and to take a look at the crack she had in her basement that was leaking water. Our technician was able to diagnose that the crack was not a result of foundation settling, but rather from hydrostatic pressure. Our technician then told her about our FlexiSpan system, and she was interested in getting it done to stop her cracked wall from leaking again.
Solution
The FlexiSpan crack repair system steps are as follows:
- A flexible sealant is applied into the crack, making sure to apply it everywhere, (this is where most epoxy systems stop).
- We then place a porous foam strip over the sealant to catch any water that may seep through the first sealant. This strip goes down into a drainage system, or down into a hole we dig in the floor.
- Finally, we place an impermeable membrane over the foam strip to not allow any water to escape, no matter the circumstance. We then placed a piece of BrightWall over the crack to make it look best.
This system will still stop water from leaking even if the wall were to continue to slightly move, unlike most sealant repairs other contractors will suggest.
