Wet crawl space and sagging floors resolved in Goshen, OH
Challenge
A homeowner in Goshen, Ohio, called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati because they were having problems with some floors that were sagging and also noticed some water in the crawl space. Still, they were unsure where it was coming into the crawl space. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati to find a solution to this problem.
Solution
Michael, a Certified Inspector, recommended that the homeowner have a CleanSpace Encapsulation System including a CleanSpace Liner, CleanSpace Drainage Matting, CleanSpace Vent Covers. A SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System, SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation, and a SaniDry Sedona were also installed to provide the homeowner with a dry crawl space.
The CleanSpace Drainage Matting is a dimpled plastic matt that provides a channel for water to flow under the CleanSpace Liner.
The CleanSpace Liner is a 20-mil-thick plastic liner that provides a moisture-proof barrier between the ground and the house. This is installed over the CleanSpace Drainage Matting.
CleanSpace Vent Covers are used to seal the existing vents to create an airtight seal of the crawl space.
The SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System is used to pump the water out of the crawl space. The SmartSump Liner is designed to form a tight seal around the CleanSpace Liner. One great feature of the SmartSump is the Airtight Lid with an Airtight Floor Drain. The Airtight Lid keeps the water from being able to re-enter the crawl space. The Airtight Floor Drain will allow water from a plumbing leak to flow into the liner and be pumped out of the crawl space. This will sound the WaterWatch Alarm and will alert the homeowner to a problem in the crawl space. The WaterWatch Alarm will also sound if there is a pump failure. This is a great feature to have since not a lot of homeowners go into the crawl space very often and may not know that there is a problem until damage has occurred.
To address the sagging floor problem, we installed SmartJack Floor Supports. The SmartJack is installed under the floor that needs to be supported and has an adjustable screw that is used to jack the floor up into place.
All of these products working together will give the homeowner a dry crawl space and a healthier home. Schedule an appointment with a Certified Inspector and find out what products can be used in your home to help you create a dry, healthier home.
