What do you do when water is only causing problems in one area of the basement?
Challenge
A homeowner in Cincinnati was having problems with water seeping into one area of the basement through some cracks in the poured foundation walls. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati to find a solution and met with Walt, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System and BrightWall Paneling System are installed to resolve this problem for the homeowner.
Solution
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is our patented basement waterproofing system. What the WaterGuard does is collect the water that is seeping into the basement and then it drains it into a sump pump system. This will keep this area of the basement dry. WaterGuard is a piping system that is installed into the floor along the foundation wall that is leaking. It is attached to a sump pump system and once the water is collected, it will be drained into the sump pump and pumped out of the basement. Sometimes there is only one area of the basement that is affected by water intrusion. In those cases, we can install the WaterGuard in that area of the basement. If in the future another area of the basement starts leaking, then WaterGuard can also be installed in that area at that time. Some companies believe in an all-or-none approach, our approach is different, allowing the homeowner to fix the current problem and not spend money unnecessarily on a whole basement system if it is not needed.
The SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is the system chosen for this project. There are other pumps available to meet the needs of the homeowner and a Certifed Inspector can help you chose the right system for your basement needs. The SuperSump is a high-end 1/3 hp pump. It is one of the best systems available and includes the WaterWatch Alarm, a SuperLiner, and an Airtight Lid. The WaterWatch Alarm will sound an alarm to alert the homeowner if there is a pump or power failure. This gives the homeowner ample warning to be able to resolve the problems before damage occurs. The SuperLiner houses the pump and will not cave in or crack. The Clean Pump Stand will lift the pump up off of the floor of the liner and out of the sediment that settles to the bottom. The Airtight Lid keeps the water in the liner from evaporating back into the basement, keeps things from falling into the liner and also helps to quiet the pump. The Airtight Lid also has an Airtight Floor Drain so that if there would even be water leaking into the basement from a plumbing leak, the water can be drained into the SuperLiner without being able to flow back up into the basement.
The Bright Wall Paneling System is used to cover the walls, keeps water from permeating into the living space, and will also drain water that is seeping through the foundation walls down into the WaterGuard. The BrightWall Panel is a bright white, plastic panel and is permanently attached to the foundation wall with special drilled in fasteners. The bright white color reflects natural light and brightens up the basement.
