CleanSpace Wall System, WaterGuard and SuperSump used to resolve water problems in Cincinnati, OH
Challenge
A homeowner of a house built in the 1900s with a block foundation was having problems with water seeping into the basement at the seam. The basement did not have a sump pump installed at the time. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati and scheduled an appointment with Walt, a Certified Inspector, to find a solution to this problem. After meeting with the homeowner, Walt recommended the WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System, and CleanSpace Wall System is installed to resolve the problems that the homeowner was having in the basement.
Solution
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a sub-floor piping system that is installed at the foundation wall to intercept the water that seeps into the basement. The system is covered with a layer of cement, leaving only a small wall flange exposed. The TrenchDrain is similar to Waterguard but is has a grated top to allow water to flow in from the top and is usually installed across doorways.
The SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is a high-end 1/3 hp cast iron pump. It includes the WaterWatch Alarm, SuperLiner, and Airtight Lid with an Airtight Floor Drain. The WaterWatch Alarm will sound if the water reaches the point that the water should have turned on. This alerts the homeowner and gives them time to resolve the problem before damage occurs. The SuperLiner houses the pump and has 96 holes throughout it that will allow water to flow in from under the floor so that it can be pumped out of the basement. The Airtight Lid keeps water from evaporating back into the basement. It also keeps things from falling into the liner, keeps out odors and insects and helps to quiet the pump. The Airtight Lid has an Airtight Floor Drain. The Airtight Floor Drain will allow water from a plumbing leak to be able to drain into the floor drain but will not be able to flow back up into the basement.
The CleanSpace Wall System is our most economical wall system. The CleanSpace Wall System uses a plastic liner that is similar to a pool liner and is permanently attached to the walls and floor of the basement. The CleanSpace liner is used to cover unsightly walls and also will allow wall leaks to drain into the WaterGuard without permeating into the living space of the basement. In other words, when the water seeps into the basement it is drained by the CleanSpace liner down into the WaterGuard piping. The WaterGuard piping drains the water into the SuperLiner and the SuperSump Pump will remove the water from the basement. This gives the homeowner a dry basement that can now be used for storage without worries of water intrusion.
