Photo Album: CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation in Mt. Healthy, OH
We encapsulated a crawl space for a Mount Healthy homeowner using CleanSpace, SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation, and Spray Foam Insulation.
CleanSpace is a 20-mil-thick plastic liner, similar to a pool liner, that is attached to the walls and floor with special spikes and drilled in fasteners. The CleanSpace provides a vapor-proof barrier between the crawl space and the ground. The CleanSpace liner provides a vapor-proof barrier between the ground and the home.
The SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation is a rigid foam insulation that is infused with graphite to resist heat flow. This keeps the crawl space and the floors above warmer in the winter.
The Spray Foam Insulation is installed along the rim joist to keep unconditioned air from entering the crawl space. The unconditioned air causes the crawl space to be colder in the winter and hot and humid in the summer. Having a crawl space that is properly insulated will also help with heating costs.
