A Hundred-year-old home in St. Bernard, Ohio was experiencing water that was seeping in between the seam of the wall and floor. The home has a block foundation and there was no sump pump installed so the homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati to find a solution to this problem.
The homeowner met with a Certified Inspector who recommended that WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System with a Trench Drain, a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System, and a SaniDry Sedona to resolve the problems the homeowner was having in the basement.
The WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a patented sub-floor piping system that is used to intercept the water that seeps into the basement and drain it into a sump pump system. The sump pump will pump the water out of the basement to keep the basement dry.
The sump pump system that the Inspector recommended for this basement is the Super Sump Premier Sump Pump System. The SuperSump has a 1/3 hp pump and can pump up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour out of the basement. It also includes the WaterWatch Alarm, SuperLiner and Airtight Lid. The WaterWatch Alarm will sound if the water reaches the level where the pump should have turned on, or if there is a power failure. This alerts the homeowner to a problem with the system that needs to be resolved. The Airtight Lid is so strong that you can stand on it. It also has an airtight floor drain so that if there is a plumbing leak the water can flow down into the liner to be pumped out of the basement but the water cannot come back up into the basement. The Airtight Lid also keep things from falling into the liner, keeps out odors and insects and helps to quiet the pump. There are also knockouts in the lid that can be used to drain a dehumidifier, such as the SaniDry, directly into the SuperSump.
The SaniDry Sedona is used to remove the excess moisture from the basement and also filters the air. Too much moisture in the air makes the basement uncomfortable and encourages mold growth. Mold needs a source of moisture to survive. The special filters on the SaniDry filter out mold spores, dust mite droppings and other particles in the air. The SaniDry makes the home environment more comfortable and healthier by keeping the moisture at the proper level.
