A Sixty-year-old home was experiencing a lot of water seeping into the basement. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati to find a solution to the problems in the basement. The homeowner met with Austin, a Certified Inspector, who met with the homeowner to find a solution to the problems in the basement. The homeowner decided to have WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System with a Trench Drain, a TripleSafe Sump Pump System, Foamax Basement Wall Insulation, RockWell Window Well with an Egress Window and WellDuct Window Drain installed.
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a patented piping system installed under the floor at the perimeter of the basement walls. The WaterGuard intercepts the water that is seeping into the basement and drains it into a sump pump system to be pumped out of the basement and keeps the basement dry. A TrenchDrain has a grated top and is installed across doorways to allow water to flow in and is attached to the WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System.
The Sump Pump installed for this home is the TripleSafe Sump Pump System. This system has three pumps. The first pump is the primary pump and will do the majority of the pumping. If this pump becomes overwhelmed, then pump two will start up to help. The third pump is the UltraSump Battery Back-up Pump and will turn on during a power failure to pump water out of the basement using its own battery pack. It comes with its own charging station.
Foamax Basement Wall Insulation is an advanced polyisocyanurate foam insulation. It has a white foil finish on the front to give your basement a clean look. It also has a foil vapor barrier on the back to help drain wall leaks into the perimeter drainage system, such as WaterGuard.
An Egress Window is required in some areas if there is a bedroom in the basement but is always a good idea to have a way of egress or exit out of the basement during an emergency. The RockWell Window Well and Egress Window look like a stone landscape from the inside. The inside of the RockWell has steps that can be used to exit the basement if needed. The window cover will keep things from falling into the window well while still letting natural light into your basement.
A WellDuct Window Drain was also needed to keep the window well from flooding. The Window WellDuct is installed by drilling a hole through the foundation below the window. A strainer is placed on the outside to keep out debris. On the inside, a duct is attached to the wall and will drain any water that comes in down into the WaterGuard.
All of these products working together will give the homeowner a dry, more comfortable basement.
