Photo Album: Moisture and mold resolved in a basement and crawlspace in Mason, OH

A Mason, Ohio homeowner has a home that was built in the 1800s.  The home has a basement and a crawl space with a stone and block foundation.  The homeowner was having problems with mold and moisture and also noticed the floor settling in one corner.  They called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati for help resolving this problem. The homeowner met with Jeff, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing, a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump system with an UltraSump Battery Back-up System, CleanSpace Wall System, and a SaniDry Sedona is installed in the basement. In the crawl space, Jeff recommended that CleanSpace with CleanSpace Drainage Matting, SmartJack Floor Support System, a supplemental beam, and helical piers are installed in the crawl space to resolve the problems in the crawl space. WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a piping system installed along the perimeter of the foundation walls.  This piping system will intercept water that is seeping in and will then drain the water into the sump pump system, such as the SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System. The SuperSump has a 1/3 hp Zoeller cast iron pump and comes with a WaterWatch Alarm that will sound if there is a pump or power failure to alert the homeowner to a problem with the system, a SuperLiner, and an Airtight Lid.  The Airtight lid will keep water from evaporating back up into the basement, keep things from falling in, keeps out odors and quiets the pump.  The UltraSump is the battery back-up system that will automatically turn on and run on battery power during a pump or power failure. CleanSpace Wall System is a liner, much like a pool liner, that will cover the walls and also drain wall leaks down into the WaterGuard.   The SaniDry Sedona is a dehumidifier that filters and dries the air and will keep the humidity low.  Having too much humidity encourages mold growth and also makes the home uncomfortable. Drainage Matting gives the water a channel to flow into the drainage system to be pumped out of the crawl space.   SmartJack Floor Supports are steel piers that are cut to size and then installed under an unlevel floor.  The adjustable screw will be used to jack the floor up and can be readjusted if needed. Helical Pier System is a steel pier that is mechanically screwed into the ground until it reaches competent soil.  A bracket is attached to the footer of the home and is immediately stabilized from any further movement and can potentially raise the home back up to a level position.
