Photo Album: CleanSpace and SmartJacks to resolve crawl space problems in Hamilton, OH

A Hamilton, Ohio homeowner was having problems with separation in the foundation of the home.  The homeowner met with Austin, a Certified Inspector to help them find a solution to this problem.  Austin recommended that SmartJack floor Supports are installed to resolve the problems with the foundation.  SmartJacks are installed by having a structural stone compacted in place.  The SmartJack is cut to size and placed under the sagging floor.  The adjustable screw is used to jack up the floor and can easily be adjusted in the future if needed. Austin also recommended the CleanSpace Encapsulation system is installed along with SilverGlo Crawl Space Insulation and a SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System.  The CleanSpace Encapsulation system that we installed has a layer of CleanSpace Drainage Matting.  The drainage matting has dimples throughout to provide a channel for water to flow into the drainage system.  Then a layer of CleanSpace Liner is installed.  This is a bright, white plastic liner, similar to a pool liner that is attached with special fasteners to the walls and floor of the crawl space.  This provides a vapor-proof barrier between the ground and the home.  The SilverGlo Insulation is also installed on the crawl space walls and is polystyrene foam with graphite infused to resist heat flow.  This makes the crawl space and the areas above warmer in the winter and helps to lower your heating costs.  The SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System has a special lid design that if water from plumbing leaking into the crawl space will flow down into the drainage system.  This will sound the WaterWatch Alarm.  The WaterWatch Alarm will also sound if there is a pump or power failure.   The WaterWatch Alarm is a great feature to have since a lot of homeowners do not go into the crawl space that often and may not realize there is a problem until damage occurs or they receive a high water bill.
