Water that was seeping into a basement through the walls and floor is resolved in Cincinnat
Challenge
A homeowner in Cincinnati was having problems with water seeping into the basement through the walls and the floor. This basement is partially finished and did not have a sump pump installed. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati and scheduled an appointment with Austin, a Certified Inspector to find a solution to this problem.
Solution
To resolve the problems in the basement that the homeowner was experiencing, Austin recommended the following products WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, a TrenchDrain, a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System an UltraSump Battery Back-up Pumping System, BrightWall Paneling System, Foamax, and a SaniDRY Sedona Basement Air System.
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a piping system that we installed under the floor at the foundation wall. The WaterGuard piping intercepts the water that is seeping into the basement and drains it into a sump pump system and removed from the basement.
The SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System will pump the water out of the basement. The SuperSump includes a WaterWatch Alarm that will sound an alarm if there is a pump or power failure. A CleanPump Stand will lift the pump from the bottom of the liner. The AirTight Lid keeps water from evaporating back into the basement, keeps objects from falling into the liner and helps to quiet the pump. The Airtight Lid has an AirTight Floor Drain that will allow water from a plumbing leak to drain into the system but will now allow it to flow back into the basement. The UltraSump Battery Back-up System is a battery-powered pump that will automatically turn on if there is a pump or power failure.
The BrightWall Paneling System is plastic paneling that is permanently attached to the basement walls. BrightWall covers the walls, like traditional paneling, but it will also drain any wall leaks down into the WaterGuard.
Fomax is an advanced polyisocyanurate foam insulation panel. Foamax has a foil vapor barrier on the back and can also help drain the water down into the WaterGuard. It also has a white foil finish on the front so that it can be left exposed or finished.
The SaniDry Sedona is used to dry and filter the air. High humidity is uncomfortable and can encourage mold growth. The filters on the SaniDry can filter out mold spores, dust mite droppings, and other particulates that can irritate allergies.
All of these products working together will give the homeowner a dry, comfortable basement.
