Challenge

A 70-year-old home with a block foundation had water seeping in at the floor near the foundation wall. The basement did not have a sump pump installed. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati to explore the options to make the basement a more usable space. The homeowner met with Jeff, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that we install our WaterGuard subfloor drains , a trench drain, and a TripleSafe sump pump system to resolve the water problems in the basement. We then explained to the homeowner that our Foamax and Basement to Beautiful panels would be perfectly suited to help her get started on her finishing process, as both these panels were made to insulate and keep the basement warm. Solution

WaterGuard is our sub-floor drainage system that was installed around the entire perimeter of the basement. We recommended that we install a full system because the homeowner had plans on finishing their basement, and a full system would ensure that the entire basement stays protected. We also installed a trench drain near the door in the basement as part of the drainage system.

The TripleSafe sump pump system, as the name suggests, includes three pumps. Pump #1 is a 1/3 hp pump and will be handling the majority of the load. If this pump becomes overwhelmed by a high volume of water, pump #2, a 1/2 hp high volume pump, will start kicking in to help out. Pump #3 is the UltraSump battery back-up pump. The UltraSump will turn on during a power failure to remove water from the basement. The TripleSafe Sump Pump System also includes the WaterWatch alarm, a twin liner, and an airtight lid with an airtight floor drain. By installing our best sump system, this basement will have the upmost protection.

Foamax Basement Wall Insulation is an advanced polyisocyanurate foam insulation with a white foil finish on the front and foil vapor barrier on the back. Foamax will keep your basement warmer and will also drain any wall leaks down into the WaterGuard.

The Basement To Beautiful insulated wall panels were also used in this basement. The Basement To Beautiful Insulated Wall Panels are designed with SilverGlo graphite insulation and they have metal studs that can be used to install drywall or other types of walls to finish the basement. This closed-cell insulation will not soak up water like fiberglass insulation, and is a perfect addition to your basement if you plan on finishing your basement walls.

The Foamax and Basement To Beautiful panels will drain any wall leaks and also make the basement warmer. The WaterGuard basement waterproofing system will intercept the water and drain it to the TripleSafe sump pump system and remove water from the basement. These products all working together will give the homeowner a basement that can be enjoyed for years to come, and boost the value of the home.

The TripleSafe was placed in the laundry room. You can see just how thick the Foamax panels are in this picture as well. The thickness provides great insulation specs to the paneling system.

Basement To Beautiful panels were used to make the basement warmer and were installed in all the spots the homeowner planned to put drywall over.

This laundry room was cold and wet. Doing laundry in this basement was a pain for the homeowner until we changed it.

The trench drain was installed across the doorway. We can't place our WaterGuard under doorways because they come with a wall flange and are meant to stay concealed.
