A 100-year-old home was having issues with water seeping into the basement. After meeting with us, the homeowner decided to have a BrightWall paneling system, a WaterGuard basement waterproofing system, and a SuperSump premier sump pump system equipped with an UltraSump battery back-up pump installed to resolve the problems in the basement.
BrightWall panels are used to cover the walls and will also help drain any wall leaks into the WaterGuard basement waterproofing system. The WaterGuard intercepts the water that seeps into the basement and drains it into the sump pump system. The SuperSump premier sump pump will remove the water from the basement at an elite rate. The UltraSump is the battery back-up pump system and will turn on if there is ever a pump or power failure.
These systems working together will create a dry, comfortable basement that can be used without worries of water intrusion. The bright white color really brightens up the basement. Look at the difference this has made in this basement.
This large basement was having issues with staying dry. It was also leaking a lot of cold air into the home. We installed our waterproofing system along with our Basement to Beautiful panels, which are great insulators. They also cannot grow mold or hold moisture due to their inorganic materials.
Seen in the before picture is the side of the brick house that was sinking into unstable soil. This was causing stair-step cracking in the bricks and sticky windows. If left untreated, the bricks on the side of the house could eventually fall off completely, as we have seen before. It's important to catch this problem early on, that way we can actually raise the foundation back without hurting the siding of your house. When we attach the piers, we have a handheld hydraulic device that can raise the foundation back slowly. We were able to close the cracks and fix the sticky windows. This beautiful brick house won't have to worry about settlement anymore.
The most common problem with a sunken driveway is a gap created between the garage floor and the concrete driveway. It may be hard to tell, but in the before picture seen here, there was about a 2-3 inch gap between the top of the driveway and the garage floor. This gap was considered a tripping hazard and a nuisance for the homeowners to pull their car out of. We raised the driveway a couple inches by lifting the slabs with our PolyLevel foam injections. PolyLevel foam is a lighter, cleaner, more effective alternative than mudjacking. If you need your driveway looked at for leveling, be sure to give us a call for a free inspection!
Stacy owned a home in Bellevue, Kentucky, that was built in 1906. The old home had a stone foundation that leaked. Having used The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati previously, she called us and scheduled an estimate. Other companies say that stone foundations can't be waterproofed. Our foreman David however, was able to waterproof this 120-year old basement with no problems!
